09 Feb, 2018 ·
DID YOU ALWAYS KNOW YOU WANTED TO BE AN ARTIST?
Yes,i have always wanted to be an artist right from when i was a kid.
TRAINED OR UNTRAINED? HOW DID YOU FIND YOUR STYLE
I studied fine and applied art at the university of Nigeria, Nsukka.I have a BA in graphic design. However, i would say school gave me the fundamentals but what i know today is mostly from self development and practice as digital art wasn't taught in school.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO WHEN YOU AREN’T MAKING ART
I play videogames and watch animated movies.
BIGGEST CHALLENGE MAKING ART
Growing up with the stereotype that an artist cant make a living off their craft and having to deal with a society that does not see being an artist as a "real job"
WHAT IS YOUR INSPIRATION?
Animated movies, video games, comic books and all things retro.
HOW HAS AFRICA INSPIRED YOUR STYLE
It's wide range of diversity and culture, which i believe is very beautiful and colorful and has so much ideas yet to be untapped .The goal is to show that to the world.
WHAT IS YOUR CREATION PROCESS LIKE
I create mostly from imagination and in some cases i find real life references to help make the idea more solid. I first picture the idea in my head then proceed to making a rough layout in adobe Photoshop using my graphic tablet next i refine the sketch and add colors to it rendering light and shade is always the last in my process no matter the coloring style i employ on the piece,i'm constantly experimenting.
PENCILS OR DIGITAL OR BOTH
Mostly digital, but recently i am beginning to do a mixture of both.
